Serbia always supports the one-China policy, Vucic said

BELGRADE, 17 Oct. Serbia is the only country in Europe which always, and under foreign policy pressure, supports the one-China policy, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
The head of the Serbian state at the head of the government delegation is in China, where he is taking part in the Belt and Road summit. On Tuesday, he held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“I must say that under conditions of considerable pressure on the Republic of Serbia, our country is the only one in all of Europe that has never joined declarations criticizing and condemning the PRC on any issue. And on the issue of Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region – ed.), Taiwan or any other, we have always been on the side of the PRC, the one-China policy, and it will remain so,” Radio and Television of Serbia quotes Vucic’s statement.

The Serbian leader especially noted the importance of Beijing's support for Belgrade on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, once again invited Xi Jinping to visit Serbia and thanked him for the assistance of the Chinese authorities and companies in the development of the country.
The delegations of Serbia and China signed an agreement on duty-free trade on Tuesday in the presence of the heads of the two states. Before that, the Serbian authorities and Chinese companies signed commercial agreements on the construction of transport infrastructure and the purchase of high-speed trains worth over 3.5 billion euros, of which the cost of trains is 54 million euros.
The Serbian President previously said that he expects Russian leader Vladimir Putin to attend the Belt and Road summit in China in October, but does not plan a bilateral meeting with him. President of the Republic of Srpska Bosnia and Herzegovina (RS BiH) Milorad Dodik reported that he hopes to have meetings with Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping this year.
“One Belt, One Road” is an international initiative of China to improve existing and create new trade and transport corridors connecting more than 60 countries of Central Asia, Europe and Africa, which is designed to promote the development of trade relations between them and China.
