A 20-year-old resident of the Kurgan region was detained in the case of “cooperation on a confidential basis” with a Ukrainian organization (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code). RIA Novosti was informed about this by the regional directorate of the FSB.
According to the agency, in March, the Trans-Ural resident corresponded with representatives of an unnamed organization, and they sent him tasks by e-mail — to distribute “pro-Ukrainian materials” and collect addresses of military personnel units, military registration and enlistment offices and law enforcement units.
The FSB calls the letters “instructions for carrying out sabotage and subversive work.” The unnamed Ukrainian organization was “banned in Russia,” the service clarified.
The man confessed after his arrest. The article he is charged with carries up to 8 years in prison. It appeared in 2022 after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Previously, the reason for such criminal cases included correspondence with representatives of Legion “Freedom of Russia”, which in March 2023 the Supreme Court of Russia recognized as a “terrorist organization”. The human rights project “First Department” claimed that they were aware of provocations when FSB officers wrote to Russians on behalf of representatives of the legion.
