The Prosecutor General's Office has recognized the Central European University (CEU) in Austria as “undesirable,” the department’s channel reports. In his opinion, now “the organization’s efforts are focused on discrediting the special military operation and the political leadership of the Russian Federation.”
The department believes that the university has programs that “depreciate and distort” the history of Russia and “downplay the merits” of Russian scientists and cultural figures. In addition, the Prosecutor General’s Office believes that the university “promotes pseudo-statements about Russia’s guilt in all world cataclysms, which is clearly not true.”
The press release also states that experts who are in any way connected with Russian government agencies, or that support the war.
“Training programs are designed with an emphasis on alleged "war crimes" Russia in Ukraine, “Russian propaganda”, statements about “second-class status” citizens of the Russian Federation who support a special military operation,” says the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The department adds that the university is financed by “structures controlled by George Soros.”
The university's website states that since its founding, the CEU History Department has supported the research and teaching of Russian, Ukrainian, and Eurasian history. In particular, teachers and researchers from St. Petersburg State University, European University in St. Petersburg, Tver State University, Buryat State University, Petrozavodsk State University and Kazan Federal University collaborated with the university.
