An analogue of the Iskander can hit a range of 300 kilometers
On the night of October 17, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the city of Berdyansk, which is located on the shores of the Azov Sea. At the same time, as the Fighterbomber channel reports, American ATACMS long-range missiles were used for the first time. Prior to this, the United States had not confirmed the fact of the transfer of these long-range missiles to Kiev.
At night, reports came from Berdyansk about explosions near the city. The video showed the work of our air defense. In the morning we received reports of an attack by ATACMS missiles on our airfield. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
The United States has long maintained an intrigue regarding whether these missiles will be delivered to Kyiv or not. Biden had to make the decision. At the same time, statements were made from Washington that if the United States supplied missiles with a range of 300-500 km, the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not be able to use them on Russian territory.
In early September, the American media, citing military sources, reported that that the Pentagon will supply Kiev with 30 ATACMS missiles by October. Judging by the strike on Berdyansk, they were not deceived.
MGM-140 ATACMS are ground-launched missiles. An analogue of the Tochka-U and Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems. They can be launched from HIMARS and M270 launchers, which have long been supplied to Ukraine.
Previously, the German newspaper Bild linked the issue of supplying German Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine with the supply of ATACMS. Allegedly, as soon as Washington officially announces the use of ATACMS in Ukraine, Germany will immediately send Taurus.
In turn, the New York Times reported that the ATACMS missiles transferred to Ukraine will be equipped with a cluster warhead. Within the reach of these missiles are not only Berdyansk, but also Crimea, Mariupol, and Rostov-on-Don.
