MOSCOW, October 16 Soviet and Russian composer Gennady Gladkov died at the age of 89, his assistant and manager Malik Aminov said.
“ “(He died — Ed.) at home, he just left home calmly,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Aminov added that the farewell and funeral will take place in a narrow circle of family and close friends.
“My son (Gladkova. — Ed.) decided that there would be no one at the funeral and farewell,” he clarified.
Gladkov was born in Moscow in 1935 in a family of musicians. He wrote music for such animated films as “Baby and Carlson”, “Well, Just Wait!”, “Blue Puppy”, “How the Lion Cub and the Turtle Sang a Song”, and many others. His works can also be heard in the films “12 Chairs”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Dog in the Manger”, “New Year's Adventures of Masha and Viti” and others. In addition, the composer also composed music for theatrical productions.
In 1988, Gennady Gladkov became an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and in 2002, a People’s Artist of Russia.
