OSCE head shocked by destruction of hospital and school in Gaza

MOSCOW, October 18 Foreign Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Buyar Osmani Chairman of the OSCE, stated that he was shocked by the destruction of a hospital and school in Gaza, called for respect for international law and to bring those responsible to justice.
“Shocked by the destruction of a hospital and school in Gaza, hundreds of civilians became victims. We again call for compliance with international humanitarian law… The perpetrators must be brought to justice,” Osmani wrote on his page on the social network X.
Al-Ahly Hospital in the Gaza Strip was attacked on October 17. Gaza's health ministry said more than 500 people were killed, most of them women and children. The parties to the conflict blamed each other for the attack: in Palestine they said that the attack was carried out by Israeli planes, and in Israel that the hospital was hit by a rocket that was unsuccessfully launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.

Inflammations broke out in many countries large demonstrations in support of Palestine, in a number of cities – at the embassies and consulates of Israel and the United States, and in some places – at the French missions. Such actions took place not only in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Europe and Latin America.

Authorities in several countries blamed the attack on Israel. Such statements were made in Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and Cuba, and the Iranian president named Israel and the United States as culprits. The head of the African Union commission also accused Israel.

A number of other countries condemned the attack without singling out the perpetrators. This was the opinion of the head of diplomacy of the European Union, the President of France, as well as the foreign ministries of the Netherlands, Spain and Great Britain. The United States did not specifically name who was blamed for the tragedy, but soon after it the Pentagon called on Israel to comply with the “laws of war,” and the White House said that President Joe Biden intends “as a friend” to pose “several difficult questions” to Israel. .
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip a war crime. He placed the final responsibility for it on the United States, which “cynically makes money from wars in different countries and on different continents” and “thoughtlessly distributes colossal money for weapons, loading up its military-industrial complex.”
