MOSCOW, October 16 Director of the Lenkom Mark Zakharov Theater Mark Varshaver called composer Gennady Gladkov a great artist and an outstanding musician who created amazing music.
Soviet and Russian composer Gennady Gladkov died in his home at the age of 89, his assistant Malik Aminov previously reported.
«We have lost a great artist, an outstanding musician who created a lot of amazing music. He had a keen sense of time, listened to the wishes of the director with whom he worked. Gennady Igorevich collaborated a lot and happily with Mark Anatolyevich Zakharov not only in theatrical works, but also in cinema. He wrote wonderful music for almost all of Zakharov's television films, he was his great friend. We have lost a very talented composer who created many wonderful melodies that we will never forget and will always listen to and enjoy,» said Varshaver.
Gladkov was born in Moscow in 1935 into a family of musicians. He wrote music for such animated films as “The Kid and Carlson”, “Well, Just Wait!”, “The Blue Puppy”, “How the Lion Cub and the Turtle Sang a Song” and many others. His works can also be heard in the films “12 Chairs”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Dog in the Manger”, “New Year’s Adventures of Masha and Viti” and others. In addition, the composer also composed music for theatrical productions. Since 1998, Gennady Gladkov has been an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, since 2002 — People's Artist of Russia.
