A resident of Udmurtia was accused of participating in an “extremist organization” because of the inscription “Freedom for Navalny”; he has been in a pre-trial detention center for more than six months

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the term of detention in a pre-trial detention center for Udmurtia resident Artemy Perevozchikov in the case of participation in an “extremist organization.” A Mediazona correspondent reports this from the court.

The case against 20-year-old Perevozchikov from the village of Debesy was opened on March 23, then he was arrested by the Industrial District Court of Izhevsk.

According to the voiced version of the investigation, the student wrote the phrases “Freedom for Navalny”, “No to war!”, “Russian soldier is a fascist occupier” and others on “urban infrastructure objects” in the center of the republic.

Perevozchikov’s lawyer asked to be released under house arrest, but judge Oksana Kurnosova left the student in custody until January 23, 2024.

At the end of August, Perevozchikov was added to the list of Rosfinmonitoring, which lists those accused in extremist and terrorist cases. This was probably due to the reclassification of the charge as participation in an “extremist organization” (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).

At the same time, the case of a resident of Udmurtia was transferred to the central office of the Investigative Committee, and the man was transferred to Moscow. At the meeting it was mentioned that an investigator named Spesivtsev is currently investigating the case. He heads the department for investigating environmental crimes in the central office of the Investigative Committee, which appeared in 2020.
