MOSCOW, Oct 19 Relations between Australia and Russia are destroyed «to foundation» in the context of the general position of the collective West, Russian Ambassador to Canberra Alexey Pavlovsky said in an interview.
«»Bilateral relations have been destroyed to the ground, and this was done exclusively in the context of the general position of the collective West. There were and are no other reasons,» — the ambassador emphasized.
Speaking about the limits of Australia’s sanctions policy, Pavlovsky admitted that “indeed, it is difficult for the Australian government to come up with something new in terms of illegal reprisals.”
“Here it is time to recall the words of the poet: “all that could, you have already done it,” the diplomat noted.
He recalled that previously between the countries “there was very mutually beneficial business cooperation, for example, in the field of mining and related technologies.”
“I had to meet and talking with the “captains” of this sector, I know firsthand about their high interest. Under pressure from the government, these companies were forced to curtail their profitable business in Russia and abandon plans for its further development,” Pavlovsky said.
At the same time, he admitted that Australian entrepreneurs also suffered damage. “Of course,” said the ambassador .
According to him, “in company” with the rest of the West, Australia “banned itself” from importing Russian oil and petroleum products.
“In principle, their share in the energy balance of the Green Continent was not critical. The general disorganization of the world energy market hit harder, to which the (Anthony) Albanese government contributed by habitually supporting the G7’s frantic attempts to introduce a “price ceiling” on fuel exported from Russia. As one would expect, the “ceiling” does not work, but fuel at Australian gas stations has risen significantly in price,” said the Russian Ambassador to Australia.
