OMSK, October 19 A resident of the Omsk region hit two pedestrians on the highway, after which he fled the scene of the accident, and then came to the police himself, the regional prosecutor’s office said.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 18 in the Bolsherechensky district of the Omsk region. A 61-year-old man was driving a Daewoo Nexia car, moving along the Omsk-Tara highway. In the area of the 218th kilometer, he hit two pedestrians.
“»The pedestrians, a 57-year-old resident of the village of Evgashchino and a 41-year-old resident of the village of Kurnosovo, died from injuries received as a result of the accident. The driver fled the scene of the accident, but after some time he went to the police, explaining that he was was blinded by the headlights from an oncoming car and did not notice people walking along the edge of the roadway in clothes without reflective elements,” the department’s press service reported.
It is noted that the circumstances of the accident are being clarified. The regional prosecutor's office took control of the progress of the inspection.
