MOSCOW, October 19 Italian Juventus supported the team’s midfielder and the Italian national team Nicolo Fagioli amid the player’s suspension from football for seven months.
Earlier it became known that four players were suspected of committing illegal bets: Fagioli, Nikola Zalewski (Roma), Sandro Tonali (Newcastle), and Nicolo Zaniolo (Aston Villa). On Tuesday, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced a seven-month ban for Fagioli. Fagioli must also undergo treatment for gambling addiction for six months and take part in at least ten public meetings in gambling addiction treatment centers. In addition, Fagioli must pay a fine of 12.5 thousand euros.
«»The club takes note of the official statement of the FIGC and will provide full support to Fagioli in solving this problem. We will provide the player with assistance in terms of treatment for gambling addiction, cooperating with the federation. We are firmly convinced that Nicolo, with the support of the club management, teammates, family members and doctors who help him will cope with his addiction and, as soon as the suspension is completed, he will be able to return to the starting line-up of the team,” a statement on the Juventus website reads.
Faggioli is 22 years old. This season, the midfielder took part in six matches and did not score any goals. The footballer has one match for the Italian national team.
