MOSCOW, October 21 State Duma Deputy Anton Gorelkin believes that Google can fulfill Kiev’s request to “derusify” search results and recommendations on YouTube, but this will not help get rid of Russian language in Ukraine. The deputy wrote about this on Telegram.
In Kiev, they want Crimea to be displayed exclusively as a Ukrainian territory on Google maps, so that search results on Google and recommendations on YouTube are “derussified,” and Ukraine is disconnected from its geographical affiliation with the CIS. The First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya met with Google representatives who came to Kyiv and expressed her wishes to them.
“Will Google fulfill Kiev’s demands? Based on the vectors of American policy, yes: they will tweak the search results and recommendations. Will this help eliminate the Russian language on the territory of Ukraine? But I highly doubt this,” Gorelkin wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the deputy, all this is a continuation of the information policy that is being conducted on the territory of Ukraine.
«The authorities are doing everything to destroy the Russian language: first they removed it from documents, then from culture and the media, from education, etc. But everything is in vain: many residents of Ukraine continue to speak Russian and decisively switch to Surzhik they refuse,” the parliamentarian added.
Gorelkin also said that a scandal broke out with the Russian television series “Daddy’s Daughters.”
“It turns out that the continuation of the popular Russian series has entered the top recommendations of Ukrainian YouTube,” the deputy noted.
