Director of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Klimov said that in the first nine months of 2023, 15.1 thousand people were granted Russian citizenship abroad.
He explained that these are mainly children born in mixed marriages. During this period, Russian foreign institutions certified the presence of citizenship by birth in relation to 12.5 thousand children.
Klimov also said that so far in 2023, 4.4 thousand people wished to renounce Russian citizenship. According to him, in 2022 the number of such persons was 4.3 thousand.
