OMSK, October 22, Andrey Simonenko. European Champion 2020 in women's single figure skating, Alena Kostornaya, performing in a sports pair with Georgy Kunitsa, said that she expects fairness, not loyalty, from the judges.
Kostornaya and Kunitsa took fifth place in the short program at the second stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk, after which the figure skater was outraged by the ratings on social networks.
““I’m not waiting for loyalty, but for justice. We will work, we need to abstract ourselves from ratings and places, we need to please the audience. This is the main thing for which we skate,” Kostornaya told reporters.
Kostornaya noted that her main indignation was caused by individual assessments. “I don’t know about all the components, but there is skating skill. Never in my life will I believe that I skate worse than other athletes. Yes, work in pairs is assessed, but Gosha also skates no worse than other boys,” the athlete noted.
“»I expected a lot of things, but not what can happen with an almost pure release. We did almost the entire maximum, it couldn’t have been much better. When with a rental twice as bad they tell us “not bad”, and then — “last time it was better”… You can’t talk to judges at competitions, but in principle I would like to find out what they didn’t like. Look into their eyes,” concluded Kostornaya.
