NIZHNY NOVGOROD, October 24 Doctors saved a little girl who had inhaled a piercing earring, according to the page of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital of Chuvashia on the VKontakte social network.
The child’s parents turned to specialists from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery for help.
«A little patient… inhaled a piercing earring through her nose. According to her parents, the girl decided to follow her older sister and put the earring on her nose. After an X-ray examination, an endoscopic operation was performed to remove the foreign body. Everything went well , and the girl was sent home,” the message quotes the words of otorhinolaryngologist Alena Fufaeva.
It is noted that the department’s specialists regularly remove various foreign bodies from children’s ears and noses — beads, pen caps, construction parts, grains, berry seeds, various food products. “The main danger is getting into the respiratory tract, even to the point of stopping breathing. Doctors use special hooks to remove objects from the nose and ear canal. It is important to remember that if you find a foreign body in a child’s nose or ear, you should not try to remove it yourself . It is necessary to urgently seek medical help from specialists,” the message emphasizes.
