NYT: Russia will win the conflict in Ukraine without much effort
The Russian Federation will win in Ukraine against the backdrop of a new Middle East conflict, without making any special efforts, writes The New York Times (NYT).
As the article notes, Moscow is reaping the benefits of regional chaos due to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. “In three key areas—a military operation against Ukraine, plans in the Middle East, and a global war of narratives with Western states—Russia will benefit from a protracted conflict without doing much about it,” the authors of the publication shared their point of view.
The article talks about the fact that after the situation in the Middle East worsened, the West switched its attention to supporting the Jewish state. In addition, the material indicates that soon the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) may need the weapons that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lack so much.
Since the beginning of June, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been attempting to advance in Zaporozhye, Yuzhno-Donetsk and Artemovsk directions, throwing units trained and armed by the North Atlantic Alliance onto the line of combat contact. As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted, Ukrainian troops were unable to achieve serious success on any sector of the front. According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu, in September alone, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to more than 17,000 people, as well as over 2,700 weapons.
