KOROLEV (Moscow region), October 26Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to study the issue of reducing funding for the Amur-LNG reusable rocket project; according to the president, such a device is in demand both “in the national economy” and from the point of view of resolving security issues.
Head of the Project Sector parameters and design strength of the launch vehicles of JSC RSC Progress, Alexander Kvetkin, during Putin’s meeting with young scientists and space industry specialists, asked the head of state to help advance the pace of development of a reusable launch vehicle.
“We understand that our satellite constellation is currently actively developing, which means that we already need the reusable Amur launch vehicle. However, the sequestration of the federal space program is slowing down the pace of development. Tell me, is there an opportunity to help promote the reusable launch vehicle?” — said Kvetkin.
The President replied that this is not sequestration, but “a certain compression of individual budget items, but overall we have a large, reliable, balanced budget,” it all depends on the readiness of industries to master segments of their work.
«»Such a device, which you said is reusable (launch rocket — ed.), especially on liquefied natural gas, is in great demand «And it is in demand both, as they say, in the national economy, and from the point of view of resolving certain issues in the security sphere. Therefore, of course, we will work. We will look at what has been reduced there,» Putin said.
