A Russian and two Indian citizens were detained for violating immigration laws during a raid on one of the villas in Thailand. This was reported by the Bangkok Post newspaper.
According to media reports, immigration and tourist police arrived at a villa in the Bang Tao beach area with a warrant issued by a Phuket court to arrest an Indian on charges of threats and intimidation.
Officers did not find the Indian man believed to be hiding in the premises. However, instead they met a 33-year-old Russian man with an expired visa.
Unexpectedly, during the raid, the police were attacked by a foreigner with a baseball bat. Reinforcements were called to the villa. During the search of the building, it was possible to detain five foreigners to check their passports and visas.
Among those detained were two Indian citizens with expired visas.
