In Armavir, a native of Melitopol was arrested in connection with a terrorist attack; he is accused of attempting to poison aviation school graduates

The Armavir City Court of the Krasnodar Territory sent a 33-year-old native of Melitopol to a pre-trial detention center in the case of delivering poisoned alcohol and cake to a meeting of aviation school graduates. This was reported by the joint press service of the regional courts.

The man is accused under the article of a terrorist act using poisonous, toxic or dangerous chemicals (clause “a” of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). The punishment is up to life imprisonment.

According to court materials, the defendant, who has lived in Russia since 2015, “organized the delivery of alcoholic beverages and confectionery that contained a medical drug in large toxic doses with the aim of killing graduates of the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School” .

The department of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Territory reported on the initiation of a case of terrorism against a 33-year-old Melitopol resident on October 26.

As Kommersant wrote, the person involved in the case is called Yegor Semenov. On October 21, he brought a 20-kilogram cake with the school’s logo and boxes of Jameson whiskey to a meeting of aviation school graduates, where 77 people were present. He said that this was a gift from one of his classmates who could not come to the event.

The courier could not name the name of the person who gave the gift, after which he hastily left the restaurant. The man’s behavior seemed suspicious to the pilots; they did not try the alcohol or cake and contacted the FSB. Later, according to Kommersant’s source in the law enforcement agencies, an examination confirmed the presence of poison in the cake and whiskey.

According to the newspaper's interlocutors, the attempt on the pilots was “organized by SBU officers.”

Semyonov was detained on October 22, the next day the Armavir City Court arrested him for 15 days in the case of petty hooliganism ( part 2 of article 20.1 of the Administrative Code). The court decision said he “loudly used crude language” in a public place.
