Prices for diesel fuel at individual gas stations in Russia are higher than the national average, because gas stations sell only branded fuel with the prefix “ecto” and “euro,” but the consumer must be given a choice, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, quoted by the press. “The average price for diesel fuel at gas stations in the country is about 63 rubles per liter. But some gas stations keep prices much higher due to the fact that they sell only branded diesel fuel with the prefix “ecto” or “euro”. This cannot be the case should. It is necessary to provide the consumer with a choice — to buy basic fuel at lower prices or expensive branded fuel,» he noted.
In addition, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia is investigating violations of the law on protection of competition due to the illegal use of the gas station trademark from Novosibirsk; the corresponding agreement expired in March of this year. Business owners illegally operate under false names and also sell diesel fuel at prices above the market, offering only branded goods. The department will stop the violation, follows from the message of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a regular meeting on the domestic petroleum products market with the management of oil companies, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the government, during the meeting, participants reported on the stabilization of fuel prices at gas stations and in the small wholesale segment, as well as for its supplies to agricultural producers.
