MOSCOW, Oct. 27 The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Tarkhan Eldukaev, who may be involved in the kidnapping and attempt on the life of the famous singer Abraham Russo — a lawyer confirmed the information in a conversation with artist Andrey Aleshkin.
«We said earlier that there would be new arrests and new people would be brought to criminal charges. This is a continuation of one big case that is being conducted by the Russian Investigative Committee. We are not surprised by this arrest. I heard this name earlier in a criminal case,» — said the lawyer.
The lawyer explained that in the interests of the investigation, he would not disclose any details in the case.
As follows from the arrest warrant, which is available, Eldukaev was arrested until December 25. The defense asked to choose a preventive measure not related to deprivation of liberty. The defendant is accused under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (kidnapping) and Part 3 of Article 30, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder).
Russo’s problems began after, according to the investigation, the ex-owner of the Cherkizovsky market Telman Ismailov lured Russo to the Moscow restaurant “Prague” in January 2004, after which he escorted him to his office, where “together with others faces» was forcibly held and beaten.
Then Ismailov demanded that Russo cancel all concerts and “enter into a contractual relationship with him to conduct pop activities on his terms.” According to media reports, before this the singer began collaborating with another producer.
Other defendants have already been sentenced in the 2004 kidnapping case. Zaur Mardanov, by decision of the Presnensky Court of Moscow, received seven years in prison in absentia, Elyar Damirov and Vladimir Gusakov were sentenced to five and six years, respectively. However, all of them were released from punishment due to the expiration of the period for criminal prosecution.
Other accomplices in the case of the assassination attempt on Russo in 2006, Alexey Tryasnikov and Vitaly Dzhura, received 12 and 9 years in a maximum security colony last year.
In 2006, the artist’s car was shot up with a machine gun in Moscow, a security guard was killed, and Russo received several bullets in the thigh. He needed a long rehabilitation.
