The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Hamas air force chief Issama Abu Rukbe was killed as a result of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
According to the military, Abu Rukbe took part in organizing the attack on Israel on October 7 — in particular, he led Hamas militants who entered the country on paragliders and coordinated drone attacks on IDF positions.
On the evening of October 27, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari announced an “expansion of Israeli ground operations” in the Gaza Strip. The inhabitants of the north of the enclave were required to move to the south. According to Hagari, the Israeli army began shelling the region, including against underground targets.
“Overnight, IDF fighters struck 150 underground targets in the northern Gaza Strip, including terrorist tunnels, underground combat facilities and additional underground infrastructure,” the Israeli military said today.
After announcement of “expanded ground operations” in the Gaza Strip The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the region and the release of hostages.
The Israeli authorities condemned the resolution. “By emphatically rejecting the UNGA’s disgraceful call for a ‘ceasefire,’ Israel intends to act to eliminate Hamas in the same way that the world acted against the Nazis and ISIS,” Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said.
