MOSCOW, Oct. 28Ukrainian troops fired 21 NATO 155 mm caliber shells at Makeyevka, Yasinovatsky district and Donetsk, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) reported.
“Shelling was recorded from the Air Force in the following directions: 15.45 — the settlement of Arkhangelskoye — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeisky district): four shells of 155 millimeters caliber were fired… 15.45 — the settlement of Arkhangelskoye — Yasinovatsky district: four shells of 155 millimeters caliber were fired… 17.10 — Karlovka settlement — Donetsk (Kuibyshevsky district): three shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired,» the representative office said in a statement on the Telegram channel.
In addition, the representative office reported that at 17.10 three shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired in the Yasinovatsky district, at 17.15 in Donetsk (Kuibyshevsky district) — three shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters, and at 19.15 in Makeyevka (Chervonogvardeisky district) — four shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters.
Makeevka is a satellite city of Donetsk, adjacent to it from the northeast. In 2014, the population of Makeyevka numbered about 350 thousand people. Chervonogvardeisky district is located in the western part of the city.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Ukraine with long-range howitzers M777 of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
