The Department of the Investigative Committee for the Samara Region opened a criminal case on preparation for a terrorist attack against a 15-year-old schoolboy from Syzran. This is reported on the department's website.
The teenager was detained on November 1 and sent to a pre-trial detention center on charges of preparing to set fire to a school (Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the teenager bought components for an incendiary mixture and made a homemade weapon. According to the Investigative Committee, the intention to commit arson arose after watching a video about shootings in schools.
Earlier today, State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein wrote about “suppressing the preparations for Columbine” at a Syzran school. According to him, six Molotov cocktails, three liters of acetone, aluminum powder, saltpeter and sulfur were confiscated from the accused. The deputy added that the student admitted during interrogation that he “was going to settle scores with his classmates and teachers.”
