MOSCOW, Nov. 6 USA basketball team head coach Steve Kerr said he does not intend to remain in his position after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Kerr succeeded Gregg Popovich as head coach of Team USA in December 2021.

"For me, this is a two-year cycle. Pop (Gregg Popovich — head coach of the US team from 2015 to 2021) coached the team at the World Cup and the Olympics, now it’s my turn to pass the torch. I think that's how it should be. It seems to me that with Coach K. (Mike Krzyszewski — from 2006 to 2015 — editor's note) and Jerry (Colangelo, ex-general manager of the US national team) everything was different. They really created a whole culture and system where guys had to commit to something for a couple of years. It made sense for Coach K to stay. But I think we’re in a different position now: one cycle and you move on,” the coach was quoted as saying by The Athletic.
At the 2023 World Cup, the U.S. team finished fourth, losing to Germany in the semifinals with a score of 111:113, and in the match for third place — to the Canadians (118:127 OT). Since 2014, Kerr has headed the National Basketball Association (NBA) Golden State Warriors.
