MOSCOW, Nov 7. Colombian armed forces withdrew troops for liberation father of English football club Liverpool striker Luis Diaz.
It was previously reported that rebels of the National Liberation Army (ELN) of Colombia kidnapped the football player's parents on October 29. Diaz's mother was later rescued by Colombian security forces. At the same time, representatives of the ANO announced on November 3 that the process of releasing the player’s father had begun. On Sunday in the English Championship match against Luton Town (1:1), Diaz addressed the kidnappers after scoring a goal, showing a T-shirt with the words “Free my dad” in Spanish. On Tuesday, ELN rebels called on Colombia's military forces to withdraw as their actions prevented the liberation plan from being carried out quickly and safely.
«»The military has redeployed and continues military maneuvers in the zone. We provide all the guarantees and conditions that will help him gain freedom in the coming hours. From the moment of the kidnapping until now, the ELN is the only organization responsible for the physical well-being of Mr. Luis Manuel. Mission «It has always been the duty of the Colombian military to protect the life and freedom of Father Luis Diaz and the rest of Colombians,» reads a statement from the Colombian military on the social network X.
Diaz is 26 years old, this season he has played 12 matches for Liverpool, scoring four goals and provided one assist.
