Shelby American continues to expand its business towards heavy pickup trucks: the 2023 Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja diesel model year with an updated version has been introduced design and suspension adapted for fast off-road driving.
Carroll Shelby became famous as an outstanding designer of sports cars and racing cars, but today the company he founded makes money mainly from tuning pickup trucks: Shelby American's portfolio already includes dozens of comprehensively modified Ford F-150s, including the anniversary Ford F-150 Shelby presented last summer Centennial Edition. Two years ago, Shelby released the heavy Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja pickup truck, but last year the entire Ford F-Series Super Duty family went through a generational change, and Shelby also had to prepare a new product in the same class, especially since customers really asked for .
Ford F-Series Super Duty pickups are first and foremost workhorses with outstanding towing capabilities , but some owners are not averse to driving such heavyweights over sand, rocks and gullies; tuning heavy pickups is becoming increasingly popular – for example, the new Harley-Davidson pickup is based on the Ford F-250.
Shelby takes the stock Ford F-250 as the basis for its Super Baja in the Lariat Ultimate 4×4 configuration, equipped with a 6.7-liter V8 Power Stroke turbodiesel (482 hp, 1424 Nm) paired with a 10-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission. The forced factory version of the same engine produces 507 hp. and 1627 Nm – this is important, since the Shelby power unit in this case does not touch and pays all attention to the suspension and style.

The word Baja in the name refers to the series of off-road racing of the same name across the steppes and deserts, where the car's suspension is often subject to shock loads. The Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja is equipped with a comprehensively modified suspension: ground clearance is increased with the help of new levers and BDS Suspension components, adjustable Fox 2.5 shock-absorbing struts with external reservoirs are installed, two Fox 2.0 dampers are integrated into the steering mechanism, the bottom is protected by metal sheets, custom 20 -inch alloy wheels are shod with 37-inch “toothy” BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM3 tires.
Exterior features of the Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja also include ventilation slots in the hood, a new grille with a large Shelby lettering, steel power bumpers with exposed towing eyes, additional lights and a central LED spotlight on the front end, wheel arch extensions, new retractable running boards with lighting, new exhaust pipes, a protective bar in the body with mounts for two spare wheels and an LED “chandelier” on top, additional window tinting and decorative vinyl decor from Shelby. The interior is re-upholstered in leather and suede in contrasting colors and decorated with lacquered carbon fiber, a racing pedal assembly is installed, and branded floor mats with Shelby embroidery are laid on the floor.

The 2023 Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja will be produced in an edition of 300 copies, priced from $154,995, which includes the cost of the stock pickup.
We would like to add that tuning sports cars is still an important part of Shelby American's business, and its specialists even manage to implement Carroll Shelby's old ideas, which was demonstrated last year on the monstrous 1318-horsepower Shelby GT500 Code Red coupe.
