MOSCOW, Nov 7The head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, Andriy Ermak, reported on Telegram that he met with the chairman of the Open Society Foundation, the son of American billionaire George Soros, Alex Soros, and discussed with him attracting investments in infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
In Russia, Open Society and Soros' Open Society Assistance Foundation have been recognized as undesirable organizations since 2015. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office stated that Soros' organizations pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation and the security of the state.
“The meeting with the American businessman and philanthropist, head of the Open Society Foundation Alexander Soros is important. An important issue is the development of the Ukrainian economy. Soros and I focused on the reconstruction and restoration of infrastructure, as well as the implementation of investment projects,” Ermak wrote in his Telegram -channel.
According to him, the parties also discussed the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, adding that Kyiv is using all opportunities to strengthen air defense.
Foreign Policy previously reported that the Open Society Foundation of American billionaire George Soros is moving its activities to the countries of the global South amid the abandonment of a number of areas of work in Europe. It was noted that fund chairman Alex Soros was most likely behind the decision. According to the publication, Open Society has long complained that the foundation's agenda resembles a «chaotic hodgepodge» of the whims of George Soros. Alex now influences the foundation's activities.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that George Soros transferred control of his funds to his son Alex Soros.
