A criminal case was opened against a Kirov activist for “discrediting” the army because of a video about Vladlen Tatarsky

A criminal case was opened against 56-year-old Kirov activist Svetlana Marina for “discrediting” the army; the day before they came to her home to search it. Marina herself told the human rights project “OVD-Info” about this.

According to the activist, the investigative actions lasted about three hours, the security forces took all the equipment from the apartment. Marina was not allowed to sign the search report, where she wanted to make comments. After this, the activist and her husband were taken for questioning to the Investigative Committee.

Previously, the Kirovsky District Court fined Marina in an administrative case for “discrediting” the military because of a comment about the murdered military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. “It’s a disgrace to display a bandit and a murderer at the monument to the victims of war. “What kind of cockroaches do people grow in their heads,” she wrote under the news about the portrait of a military correspondent that was exhibited at the Eternal Flame.

The protocol stated that the activist “discredited” Tatarsky as “a Russian military commander and a volunteer of the Vostok battalion,” she told OVD-Info (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3).

p>The reason for initiating a criminal case (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) was a 43-second video published by the Free Kirov telegram channel. On the recording, Marina says that she has not changed her opinion about Tatarsky and calls him “a criminal, a murderer and a robber” who “didn’t hide it himself.”

In May 2023, Marina was fined 30 thousand rubles under another protocol for “discrediting” the army because of a repost made by the Slovo liberala telegram channel. The post included a photo from the picket in memory of Boris Nemtsov, which took place on February 24 in Kirov, and an anti-war statement by the PARNAS party.
