A Russian court, on the basis of evidence collected by the Russian Investigative Committee, convicted in absentia a people's deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Parasyuk.
The Investigative Committee reported that he was accused under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: “Attack on the official premises of persons enjoying international protection” and “Public calls for terrorist activities” and “Of outrage against the National flag Russian Federation.»
It was established that in March 2016 Parasyuk took part in an anti-Russian action organized by radical structures of Ukraine in Lviv. During this, the Consulate General was attacked.
“A people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada illegally entered the territory of the Russian mission, where he tore the State Flag of the Russian Federation from the flagpole and took it to the protesters,” the ICR said in a statement.
He also called for violence against the Consulate General and its employees.
The court sentenced Parasyuk in absentia to 11 years in prison. Previously, he was put on the international wanted list.
The Investigative Committee of Russia continues to work to identify those who participated in attacks on Russian diplomatic institutions and bring them to criminal responsibility.
Previously, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal investigation case after the shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the city of Skadovsk in the Kherson region. As a result of the missile attack, five people were killed and at least 11 injured were hospitalized.
