The investigation has reclassified the charges against Balashikha resident Alexander Chestnykh, who was detained in the case of arson of relay cabinets in the Moscow region. This follows from the card on the extension of the arrest of the person involved in the case, which was drawn attention to by Mediazona.
As Mediazona was told in the press service of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow, Chestnykh is charged with attempting to render vehicles and tracks unusable messages made by prior conspiracy (Part 1 of Article 267 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code and Part 2 of Article 35 of the Criminal Code). There are two episodes in the case. At the same time, the defendants in such cases are often tried under the article on sabotage (281 of the Criminal Code), the FSB is investigating the case.
Previously, a resident of the Moscow region was accused of committing a terrorist attack by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ), his case was handled by the Investigative Committee. On November 7, the court extended Chestnykh’s stay in the pre-trial detention center until January 30 — while the FSB, not the Investigative Committee, petitioned for the extension of the preventive measure.
The reason for the criminal prosecution of Chestny was that he set fire to a relay cabinet in the Moscow region using a stick. As follows from the court order for his arrest, early in the morning of September 6, Chestnykh came to the railroad tracks and found a stick on the ground, wrapped it in cloth, doused it with a flammable mixture, inserted it into the relay cabinet and set it on fire. For this, as the Investigative Committee reported then, he received a reward of $350 in cryptocurrency.
On September 9, a resident of Balashikha was detained. The Baza Telegram channel wrote that he was involved in two arson attacks on relay cabinets in Reutov — at the end of August and the beginning of September. According to the channel, the man received a total of $600 for both arson attacks.
