The Moscow City Court left in pre-trial detention those involved in the case of deaths in the sewer

MOSCOW, November 8 On Wednesday, the Moscow City Court left in pre-trial detention the head of the IT company Sputnik Alexander Kim and the head of the travel agency Nikita Dubas in the case of the death of eight excursion participants in an underground sewer, the press service of the court said.
“The Moscow City Court left the decision of the Basmanny District Court unchanged,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

Kazakh citizen Kim was arrested at the end of August. The defense insisted that he, as an IT specialist, created the site and only provided it for posting advertisements about various kinds of excursions. Kim himself said in court that his company, a Skolkovo participant, is not an organizer of excursions and does not develop routes.

Excursion organizer Nikita Dubas was also arrested in connection with the case.
Both are charged with Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (providing unsafe services by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence). Both do not admit guilt.
Another person involved, director of the Avangard company Alexander Lazovsky, according to the Investigative Committee, flew to the UAE, was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia.
According to the investigation, on August 20, a guide was conducting a tour with a group of seven people along the underground sewer of the Neglinka River in Moscow, during which a heavy downpour began. The collector was flooded, all eight people died, including the guide.
