MOSCOW, November 10. This year the Bank of Russia conducted two large cycles of cyber exercises among credit institutions, including testing protection against DDos attacks, it told reporters Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank German Zubarev on the sidelines of the Finopolis forum.
«We had two large cycles of cyber exercises this year, covering all financial organizations that fell within this perimeter. This is planned work, we are working out the most realistic scenarios of attacks that can occur, including, for example, we had exercises on DDos attacks, which is relevant now,” he said.
Not only the largest banks took part in the cyber exercises, explained the deputy chairman. “We are carrying them out in several stages, trying to cover the maximum number of banks,” he added. Next year, he said, cyber exercises are also planned.
““This is a new reality, we will live in conditions of increased risks of cyber attacks, this will not end tomorrow or after tomorrow, we must be prepared for this,” he also answered the question of how he generally assessed the situation with computer attacks on banks.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the head of Sberbank German Gref said that about two weeks ago the bank faced the most powerful DDoS attack in its history.
And the day before, information appeared on the websites of three Russian banks about the suspension of payments on deposits and accounts. Later, all three banks — BZhF Bank, RRDB and Fora Bank — stated that this information was untrue and removed the messages from the sites. At the same time, RRDB reported that its website, along with the websites of several other banks, “was subject to a hacker attack.”
