Early in the morning of November 11, 19 freight train cars derailed on the Rybnoye – Block Post section in the Ryazan region, according to the telegram channel of the Moscow Railway (MZD).
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred due to “interference by unauthorized persons in the operation of railway transport.” The driver's assistant suffered “minor injuries” and was treated by paramedics on the spot.
“There is no threat to the environment. To eliminate the consequences of the derailment, recovery trains were dispatched from the stations Rybnoye, Voskresensk, and Ryazan. The situation does not affect the movement of passenger and commuter trains,” the Ministry of Railways added.
Russian Railways has created a headquarters to coordinate actions to eliminate the consequences of the accident. The Western Interregional Transport Investigation Department has begun a pre-investigation investigation. Investigators and criminologists went to the stretch where the cars got off. According to the Investigative Committee, medical assistance was also provided to the driver.
The inspection is also carried out by employees of the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office. The department clarified that the derailed freight train was carrying mineral fertilizers.
A RBC source close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that before the carriages left, an explosion was heard in the area of Dyagilevo station. According to the agency’s interlocutor, mineral fertilizers were in seven disembarked cars of train No. 2018.
Telegram channels Shot, “112” and Mash also write about the explosion. The latter claims that the “Interception” plan has been announced in Ryazan, and security forces are looking for possible “organizers” of the accident. According to the telegram channel, sappers continue to inspect the railway tracks.
