The Investigative Committee reported on the initiation of a criminal case due to the derailment of 19 freight train cars in the Ryazan region. This was reported on the department’s telegram channel.
The case was initiated under articles about a terrorist attack committed by a group of persons and causing significant material damage (points “a” and “c” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code), and illegal acquisition of explosive devices (point “a” of Part 3 Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, at 7:12 am on November 11, an improvised explosive device exploded on the Rybnoye – Block Post section. 15 of the 19 derailed cars were damaged, the damage is being established, the department said in a statement. The Moscow interregional transport prosecutor's office wrote that the train was carrying mineral fertilizers.
Moscow Railways previously reported that the accident occurred due to “interference by unauthorized persons in the operation of railway transport.” Russian Railways has created a headquarters to coordinate actions to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
Telegram channels Mash and Shot write that the “Interception” plan has been announced in Ryazan. According to their information, security forces are looking for two suspects who were seen by local residents on the railway tracks near the Dyagilevo station. Shot also claims that there were two improvised explosive devices on the tracks that went off when a freight train ran over them.
