MOSCOW, November 14 Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to develop programs for geological study of the subsoil of the Far Eastern and Siberian federal districts by April 1, 2024 and include them in the project “Geology: revival of a legend,” says the president’s instructions following the Eastern Economic Forum, published on the Kremlin website.
“Develop programs for the geological study of subsoil in the territories of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts and include these programs in the federal project “Geology: Revival of a Legend.” Deadline: April 1, 2024,” the message says.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was appointed responsible for the implementation of the order.
In September, the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, announced that the ministry had prepared a program for the geological study of the Far East, according to which it is planned to open about a thousand new deposits at the expense of 256 new promising areas by 2035.
The expected effect from the implementation of the program will be about 3 trillion rubles, the minister indicated. According to him, the program will increase exports from the Far East and attract investment flows into it.
Kozlov noted that the program for geological study of the Far East will imply the development of deposits not only of raw materials traditional for the Russian economy, but also the development of new directions, such like lithium, tungsten, rare earth metals.
