MOSCOW, November 16. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to conduct an experiment on labeling canned food and certain types of grocery products from December 1 of this year to August 31, 2024, follows from the project government resolutions.
“To conduct from December 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024 on the territory of the Russian Federation an experiment on labeling by means of identification of ready-made or canned products from meat, meat by-products, vegetables and fruits, mushrooms and berries, fish and certain species grocery products (hereinafter referred to as experiment, products),” the document says.
According to the ministry, the project provides for testing mechanisms for digital labeling of canned food in the country, as well as creating conditions for protecting the interests of producers and buyers of such products. At the same time, participation in the experiment is carried out on a voluntary basis.
In turn, the operator of the “Honest Sign” labeling system – the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) – clarified that certain types of grocery products include chips , croutons, nachos, sauces. However, it is proposed not to include baby food under 1 year of age, breadcrumbs and vanilla crumbs in the pilot project.
