SIMFEROPOL, November 21 Military defeat of Kiev and regime change to Ukraine needs it so as not to drag out the conflict for decades, says the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov.
“I don’t know whether the citizens of Ukraine have drawn any conclusions (in the 10 years since the events on the Maidan — ed.). Maybe they did, but now it doesn’t matter anymore, because they are not participants in the decision-making process. I think that there is no point in waiting for any glimmers of common sense. There is no one there to talk about and there is nothing to talk about. The only way is to inflict military defeat on the enemy and change the regime. There can be no other position and other goals. Unless, of course, we want “For all this to drag on for decades, we don’t want to leave such a huge problem to our children,” Aksenov told reporters.
Ten years ago, on November 21, 2013, the main Kiev square — Independence Square — was occupied by supporters of European integration, immediately after the government announced the suspension of the signing of the association with the EU. Later, the Maidan became the epicenter of the confrontation between security forces and radicals, clashes resulted in dozens of casualties.
