MOSCOW, November 21. Three people died in Astrakhan after drug poisoning, the regional department of the Investigative Committee reported.
“In Astrakhan, procedural checks are being carried out into the death of three local residents as a result of poisoning with an unknown substance,” the department said in a publication.
It is noted that on the morning of November 19, a 19-year-old girl “with no signs of violent death” was found dead at the entrance of one of the houses on Chkalova Street. On the same day, in the Kirov region, a woman discovered the body of her daughter, born in 2004, at her home. The third death was recorded in an apartment on Zelenaya Street in the Leninsky district, where the body of a 29-year-old man was found.
As Bairam Yulushev, chief physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 3, told reporters earlier, since November 17, 19 people with signs of drug poisoning have been admitted to the hospital. All patients were in serious condition, with the same clinical picture. Based on primary laboratory tests, methadone was detected in the blood of those admitted.
Seventeen people remain under medical supervision, two more patients have been discharged.
Earlier, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk reported that three suspects were detained in the Stavropol Territory and taken to Astrakhan. These are citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They confessed.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
