Russian Railways offered to vote for a name for an analogue of “Swallow”

MOSCOW, December 4 Russian Railways invited passengers to take part in choosing a name for the completely Russian analogue of the Lastochka electric train , the company reported.
“This year, deliveries of the new electric train ES104, entirely assembled from domestic components, began to the Russian railways. We invite you to vote,” says the Russian Railways in a statement.
< br />You can choose from the following names: “Amethyst”, “Baikal”, “Irbis”, “Weasel”, “Uralochka”, “Finist”. Or offer your own option. Voting takes place on the Russian Railways website. “You can take part in it until December 11 inclusive,” the company clarifies.

The ES104 electric train is an analogue of the so-called “Swallow” and is made entirely of Russian components. It has five carriages. There are 416 seats, while in the Lastochka, built by Sinara — Transport Machines together with the German concern Siemens at the Ural Locomotives plant, there were 346. The seats in the cabin are arranged in threes and two in a row. One of the features of the new electric train is the greater number of toilets — three instead of two.
The working name of ES104 was announced as “Lastochka-M”. Previously there was «East». Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Dmitry Pegov (then in charge of passenger transportation, now the locomotive complex) in an interview in the summer of 2023 reported that Ural Locomotives began to develop a completely Russian “Swallow” even before the departure of the foreign partner, and the working name “Vostok” appeared due to the initial plans to operate it in the East of Russia. He also called the new train “Swallow 2.0”.
The first such electric trains should appear on Russian railways in 2023. Russian Railways have already ordered 22 trains. The company plans to launch them in the Urals near Yekaterinburg, Pegov said in an interview in July. In November, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Ivan Kolesnikov added that trains could also appear on routes in the Perm Territory.
