Almost half (44%) of Ukrainians declared their readiness to compromise in negotiations with Russia, and more than half of such people are in the east of the country. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication «Strana.ua» with reference to the results of a November sociological survey conducted by the «Rating» group.
At the same time, 48% of Ukrainians are in favor of refusing negotiations and continuing military operations. As Strana.ua notes, last winter and summer supporters of this point of view amounted to 60%.
According to the survey, the willingness to compromise is more pronounced among young people aged 18 to 35 years (45%), and there are more supporters of continuing hostilities among people aged 36 to 50 years and in the west of the country (50% each). p>
As Bloomberg reported in November, some Ukrainians are ready to sacrifice territories to achieve peace with Russia. The publication indicated that disappointment, despair and fatigue are growing among the population of Ukraine due to the unsuccessful counter-offensive and the lack of prospects for a quick end to the conflict.
Moscow has previously repeatedly stated its readiness for negotiations, but Kiev has introduced a ban at the legislative level them. The West constantly calls on Russia for negotiations, to which Moscow agrees, but ignores Kyiv’s constant refusals to engage in dialogue. The Kremlin noted that at present there are no prerequisites for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine, and the absolute priority for Russia is to achieve the goals of the special operation, which at the moment is only possible through military action
