According to the results of January — November 2023, the Russian market of new passenger cars recorded an increase of almost 65%. In total, about 939.3 thousand copies were registered in the country during this period.
According to a recent report published by Autostat, 109,706 new passenger cars were sold in the Russian Federation in November. Let us remind you that the agency uses information on state registration of new vehicles in the country, and not data on dealer shipments. This allows us to take into account not only cars sold by dealers, but also cars imported into Russia under the parallel import scheme, which was legalized in the spring of 2022. The result of the past month is 113% more than in November 2022, however, it is 2.3% less when compared with October of the current year.

At the end of last month, the top ten most popular brands underwent several changes, but they all belong to the bottom two lines. Thus, the Japanese Toyota and the Chinese brand Jetour (owned by Chery), which in October occupied the ninth and tenth lines, respectively, left the rating.
Now the Russian brand Moskvich is in the penultimate place: let us remind you that at the capital’s plant, which previously belonged to Renault, badge-engineering models of the Chinese company JAC are produced under it. So far, the model range includes the Moskvich 3 crossover and the Moskvich 6 liftback, but they plan to expand the line. The brand's share in the Russian market last month was 1.74%.

Rounding out the top ten brands in November is the Celestial brand Tank, which belongs to the Great Wall concern. Its model range currently includes two representatives — we are talking about frame SUVs with indexes 300 and 500. The share of this brand in the Russian Federation as of last month was 1.7%.
The rest of the brands in the Top 10 remained in their places. Lada tops the list with a noticeably reduced market share of 29.8%, while a year earlier the figure was 41%. All models currently produced by AVTOVAZ — Granta (market share in November was 14.8%), Vesta (6%), Niva Travel (4.6%) and Niva Legend (4.3%) — are still in the top ten best-selling cars in the Russian Federation.

The most popular foreign brand in November remained Haval with a market share of 13.1%, while in the ranking of brands there is only one model from it — the Jolion crossover. It occupies 6.6% of the market and is in second place in the ranking after Granta. Next on the list of popular brands is Chery with a share of 10.3%. The top models from it include two local bestsellers — crossovers Tiggo 7 Pro Max (3.4%) and Tiggo 4 Pro (3.3%).
The fourth place in the list of brands in November was reserved by the “celestial” brand Geely, it occupied 9.6% of the Russian market. From her, Coolray (share — 3.3%) and Monjaro (2.9%) again entered the list of popular models. Changan closes the top five with a 6 percent share of the passenger car market in the Russian Federation. In sixth place is Omoda (owned by Chery), which occupies 3.8%; its bestseller remains the C5 crossover with a market share of 2.9%. Exeed (another brand from Chery’s portfolio) is in seventh place in the brand ranking, accounting for 3.7%. The eighth position still remained with the Korean brand Kia (share — 1.8%).

According to Autostat calculations , over the past eleven months, an increase of 64.9% was recorded in the Russian car market. In total, during the specified period, 939,254 new cars were registered with the state in the country.
Players in the Russian car market are already thinking about what the next year will be like for it. According to assumptions, on average representatives believe that the increase relative to the 2023 figure will be approximately 10%.
