Russia has overcome the downward trend in the number of scientists, Chernyshenko said

MOSCOW, December 6Measures for state support for research and development, carried out within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation, made it possible to overcome the trend towards a reduction in the number of specialists in this field, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
“The measures implemented over the past two years have made it possible to overcome the negative trend of the outflow of specialists from the field of science and the reduction in the number of researchers,” Chernyshenko said on Wednesday at a government hour in the State Duma.
“The positive dynamics allow Russia to maintain fifth place in the number of scientific personnel in the world, and we will consolidate this success,” he added.

According to Chernyshenko, over 2 thousand events have already taken place within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology, with 20 million people taking part in them.

Also, the Deputy Prime Minister cited data from VTsIOM, according to which 79% of Russian citizens are proud of modern domestic scientists, and 65% of parents want their children to work in science.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, by his decree in April 2022, announced the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation. The main objectives of the Decade are to attract talented young people into the field of research and development, to promote the involvement of researchers and developers in solving the most important problems of the development of society and the country, to increase the availability of information about the achievements and prospects of Russian science for citizens of the Russian Federation.
