MOSCOW, December 7 Lessons at gymnasium No. 5 of Bryansk, where the shooting took place, have been cancelled, children will switch to distance learning, the press reported — city administration service.
The shooting occurred on Thursday in gymnasium No. 5 of Bryansk. According to preliminary information from the Investigative Committee, a 14-year-old girl brought a pump-action shotgun to the educational institution, from which she shot at her classmates. As a result, two died (one of them was the shooter), five victims were taken to a medical facility.
“Lessons in the 5th gymnasium have been cancelled, children will switch to distance learning. Tomorrow psychologists will arrive in Bryansk from Moscow,” the message says.
According to the press service, on Thursday, Bryansk Vice-Mayor Sergei Antoshin held a meeting with the heads of all educational institutions in the city, at which they discussed how to protect schoolchildren from internal aggression. “You literally live in schools. You know your students, who breathes what, you see each child like an X-ray. If a child is inadequate, excited or, on the contrary, withdrawn, hangs out on social networks, react,” the vice-mayor addressed the teachers, his words are quoted as press service.
It is clarified that at the pedagogical meeting the topic of Internet addiction of children was raised, it was discussed that even the lack of likes on a photo can cause aggression in a teenager. “You have one and a half thousand children in your hands. I understand what a responsibility this is. But what happened today in the gymnasium is unacceptable. We are obliged, together with you, to talk to every parent in every school, to join forces, to be on the alert,” Antoshin said. It is noted that the vice-mayor gave instructions to school principals, which they will report on in the near future.
According to the authorities, the gymnasium was reliably protected: an anti-terrorist security passport was obtained, outsiders were not allowed into the school for several years, video surveillance systems were working and quick response.
