WASHINGTON, December 8 The son of US President Hunter Biden has new charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes could result in up to 17 years in prison, Fox News reported.
“According to the Ministry of Justice, the maximum penalty in case of conviction could be a prison term of up to 17 years,” writes the channel’s correspondent on the social network X.
As follows from the court document, Biden Jr. was charged with nine counts of non-payment taxes in the period from 2016 to 2020.

Previously, 53-year-old Biden Jr. had already been charged with tax evasion; he made a plea deal, but the court did not approve it. The amount charged was more modest; prosecutors said he failed to pay more than $100,000 in 2017 and 2018, which would have sent him up to 12 months in prison on each count.

Hunter Biden is the first child of a sitting US president to be prosecuted. In the first case, according to investigators, in 2018, when purchasing a Colt pistol, he provided incorrect information, denying drug use. Based on the totality of the charges brought against him, he faces up to 25 years in prison and a fine of 750 thousand dollars, while a prison term in such cases is usually not imposed on first-time offenders.
