Chicken eggs in Russia rose in price by 15 percent in November

MOSCOW, December 9Chicken eggs in Russia increased by 15.07 percent, while food inflation in general for this month amounted to 1.55 percent, according to Rosstat data.
Food products became more expensive in November by 1.74 percent in monthly terms, per annum — by 7.82 percent. Of the items listed in the report, chicken eggs increased in price the most in November — by 15.07 percent, and only granulated sugar fell in price (by 2.83 percent).
«In November, chicken eggs in 18 constituent entities of the Russian Federation increased in price by 1 -10 percent, in 46 subjects – by 10.1-20 percent, in 21 subjects – by 20.1-28.6 percent,” says Rosstat materials.

In annual terms, the growth in food prices in November accelerated to 7.21 percent: in October it was at the level of six percent, in September — 4.87 percent, in August — 3.58 percent, in July and June — 2.23 percent and 0.18 percent, respectively.

Non-food products in November increased in price by 0.53 percent compared to October, and by 5.58 percent compared to November last year. Without taking into account fruits and vegetables, food prices rose by 1.03 percent over the past month, and in annual terms — by 5.26 percent. Prices for fruits and vegetables in November increased by 5.51 percent compared to October, and over the period from November 2022 they increased by 23.89 percent.

«An increase in consumer prices of 1.2 percent or more was recorded in 25 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. To the greatest extent (by 1.9 percent) in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra due to an increase in prices for services (by 4.2 percent) and food goods (by 1.7 percent), the price increase was 7.0 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively),” the statistical service added.

The department also revealed an increase in prices in monthly terms for certain types of fruits and vegetables, including cucumbers — by 35.1 percent, tomatoes — by 19.1 percent, as well as grapes (plus 8.6 percent) and garlic (plus 6.8 percent). But at the same time, oranges fell in price by 9.4 percent over the month, and lemons by 6.3 percent.
Among other food products, poultry culinary products rose in price by three percent, and peas and beans by 2.2 percent. , by 1.9 percent — turkey meat. Frozen whole fish, butter, bread and bakery products made from various types of wheat flour, as well as polished rice increased in price by 1.5 percent. In turn, salmon caviar fell in price by 1.2 percent, domestic sparkling wine and vodka — by 0.2 percent.
