MOSCOW, December 10The last two years have shown that Russia has built an effective market economy, which is now, under pressure from the West, capable of restructuring itself, said Alexander Shirov, director of the Institute of National Economic Forecasting (INP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“»Events after February 2022 have shown that the country has built an effective market economy, which is able to flexibly restructure itself not only through the actions of the state, but also through an adequate response to what is happening on the part of business and the population,» he said.
According to him, despite the serious shock of the spring of 2022, everything quickly improved, “new supply channels for necessary products were found, and the financial system quickly adjusted to work under external restrictions.”
«Not only business people, but also the people behaved very rationally. But there was so much talk that business in Russia is not the same, and the people here are not the same,» the agency's interlocutor emphasized .
The way the authorities and domestic business react today to external and internal challenges, Shirov noted, suggests that “the situation is completely under control.”
«That is, Russia is trying not only to fight back, but is also thinking about how to most effectively build the economy, so that under these conditions of restrictions it is possible not to mark time, but still to develop. This is the most important thing,» — concluded the director of the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
