A court in Paris has convicted six teenagers in the murder of teacher Samuel Paty for cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. This was reported by BFMTV and Reuters.
The hearings on the case were held behind closed doors, the names of the defendants are unknown.
The schoolgirl, who, according to investigators, initiated the persecution of Patya, was given a suspended sentence of 18 months. The young man, who followed the teacher and gave the killer information about his whereabouts, was sentenced to six months of house arrest and 18 months of probation. Four other teenagers were given 14-month suspended sentences on charges of conspiracy to commit violence.
In October 2020, 18-year-old Chechen Abdulakh Anzorov, who was born in Moscow and lived in France for 12 years, beheaded history teacher Samuel Paty, who showed students caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad during a lesson on freedom of speech. According to the prosecution, the young man did not know the teacher personally and committed the murder because he was offered 300-350 euros for it.
The young man posted a photo of the severed head on Twitter, writing that he “executed one of the dogs of hell who dared to belittle Muhammad.” Shortly after the attack, he was shot and killed by police. Anzorov was buried in his family village of Shalazhi in early December 2020.
