MOSCOW, December 11 Spanish Sevilla intends to file a complaint to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to the French “Lance” in the event that fans of the Spanish club are not allowed to attend the away match of the sixth round of the group stage of the Champions League.
The match between Lens and Sevilla will take place on December 12, kick-off — 20:45 Moscow time. Earlier, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said he would ban Sevilla fans from coming to the match with Lens.
“Sevilla opposes this measure because it believes it harms fans in particular and football in general. These are disproportionate and unjustified measures. The club is taking steps together with the Spanish government to ensure that this ban is not applied,» reads a statement on the club's official website.
It is noted that Sevilla has not yet received an official message from either the French authorities or UEFA, although it understands that the French government is determined to implement this measure.
Darmanin had previously signed a decree banning fans of some clubs playing in the French Championship and Cup from traveling to upcoming away matches with an increased risk of fan clashes. This decision was a reaction on the death of a Nantes fan after clashes with Nice fans before the game of the 14th round of Ligue 1 (0:1).
