Stellantis says goodbye to the Chrysler 300 sedan: the top version C has already been discontinued

The release of the remaining versions of the long-lived sedan will be completed by December 31 of this year. There is no successor to the Chrysler 300 yet.

The history of the Chrysler 300 began in 1955 when this large rear-wheel drive model debuted as a hardtop coupe. In 1957, the Chrysler 300 changed generations, its most powerful version with a 6.4-liter V8 HEMI received the 300C index, and at the same time a convertible body appeared in the range. In the early 70s, Chrysler was already producing the sixth generation of the 300 model, then the oil crisis knocked the “300” out of the Chrysler range for a long time. The 300 index returned to circulation only in the late 90s, it was assigned to the not very successful front-wheel drive model 300M, which was replaced in 2004 by the now existing rear-wheel drive sedan.

The modern Chrysler 300 has always been in the shadow of its more massive and successful co-platform relative Dodge Charger, which got a cooler design and the most powerful versions, however, the “three hundredth” also had its own audience and its fans.

The last petrol Chrysler 300C in history was announced last fall as a limited top version, equipped with the legendary 6.4-liter V8 HEMI (492 hp, 644 Nm), powerful Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, adaptive suspension, sports exhaust and a number of cosmetic features. Note that outside North America, including Russia, the 300C index designated all versions of the model, and not just the most powerful.

Chrysler promised to release only 2,200 copies of the farewell 300C, of which 2,000 units. intended for the USA, 200 pcs. — for Canada, the entire batch was booked 12 hours after the start of sales, and today the Stellantis press service announced that the last Chrysler 300C in Velvet Red left the assembly line of the plant in Brampton, Canada (Ontario).

Less powerful farewell versions of the Chrysler 300S with V6 and V8 engines, as well as regular “three hundred” models, are still in production, but also their days are numbered — the press release says that the entire family will be discontinued by December 31 of this year.

According to rumors, the petrol Chrysler 300C will be replaced after 2025 by some kind of electric successor on the STLA Large platform, but it may be given a different name.

It turns out that after New Year's Eve there will be only one model left in the Chrysler range — the Pacifica minivan. Stellantis management is now trying to come up with some new positioning for the Chrysler brand; an attempt will be made to make Chrysler more fashionable and attract a young audience to it. Whether it will work out or not, time will tell.
